The seller's and USPS's responsibility for a package ends when the package is delivered (and delivery information is available at USPS.com). However, if a postal carrier should leave a package on your doorstep or in your mailbox - and USPS.com states that delivery was made - and then a thief comes along and takes the package, the post office will do nothing.
